Hot weekend

It's hot, hot, hot and this is from someone who was born in Malaysia where the average temperature is 29C. At last, summer has arrived. BBQ and ice-cream on the menu. Kevin is nicely brown but I'm overdone. :-)

We did the usual weekly shopping at Tesco and made sure it amounted to £50 to take advantage of the 5p off petrol voucher. As the advert says 'Every little helps' and with the very high cost of petrol it does help. We also received a voucher for free Tetley tea bags and chocolate chip cookies.

After storing the groceries, we made our way to our playground. Surprisingly, the reserve was quite empty of people. But not the natives. The lapwings were making quite a racket, arguing noisily among themselves.

And amidst this, was these beautiful cygnets. Brandon Marsh Coventry 27-07-2008 13-40-29 They are practicing the art of performing the heart. There were 5 of them floating in the lake with their protective parents. They look so fuzzy and lovable.

We didn't stay long cos it was tooo hot. On the way back, we walked through the woods. And we saw these huge carp swimming lazily near the water surface, enjoying a spot of sun-bathing. brandon marsh coventry 27-07-2008 15-00-30 According to one of the anglers, who was also observing them with longing (?), they are a challenge to catch. He said the one we saw were about 30lb weight each. Wow...

Yesterday, we went for a drive to Hereford which is about 124km from Coventry. I wanted to check out the world famous Chained Library and the Mappa Mundi, housed in Hereford Cathedral .hereford 26-07-2008 15-00-31 You must be thinking I am a bit loco. I spent my days in a library and on my weekend I still want to see a library :-). Yes, that's me.

Unfortunately, photography was not permitted at the exhibition. :-(. Copyright???. More here

On the way back, we were stranded on the M5 for about 30 mins. A car had caught fire. All I could think was ice-cream. Yummy... Thankfully, no one's hurt in the blaze.

Also, gracias to Ed for the ice cream treat on Friday. Why? Just because...but I think it was his son's first birthday.

I'd spent the whole of last week having a 30 min lunch break because I needed to leave 2.5 hours early on Fri. for a medical appointment. You don't have to but I think it's being professional. What a waste of time. No jabs was given cos the nurse needs to hunt my medical notes. I thought they were already on-line. Man...It's really hot in here.
