This is a Hobby, taken from the Carlton Hide, which is at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, our favourite spot for wildlife watching in Coventry. This handsome bird created a stampede in the hide when he decided to perch on the tree about 20metres away. We'd seen him several times but never this close. It was worth the wait.
I spotted a kingfisher but he was too far away to photograph. A common sandpiper also made a brief appearance.
Yesterday I went for my usual early jog/walk around the block and I always end up at the Arena. I got a shock cos the parking lot was nearly full and there was a long queue outside Next. ??? It was not even 8am.
Ha...The summer sale had started since 5am and the shop had to closed its door cos inside was packed with shoppers. They are queuing to be let in. Oh dear...I spotted some very well-dressed people in the queue with name tags on.
They were Jehovah Witnesses who were attending a meeting at the Ricoh. I guess they too wouldn't mind a bit of shopping eh. More than 10,000 people were present at the meeting. Who says that religion is not relevant in the 21st century?
After a spot of browsing and buying the papers in Tesco, I decided to check out Next. The doors were open but still too many people on the ground floor. I went to the home section on the 2nd floor and it looked like a hurricane had passed through :-). I went straight home.
Since Kevin was unwell, I spent the day pottering around the casa. Did the laundry, called Abah and Dee in M'sia, made beef meatballs in pasatta with garlic bread for lunch, read, plenty of weeding and cleaned the loo. Man, I was busy. Also lots of fluids and hot water bottle for my darling hubby. Get well soon babe.
Coventry has been branded the second worst place in the country for rail crime. When DB and I were on the train from London, the journey were stopped several times cos there were children playing on the track. It's going to get worse now due to the long summer school break. When will they learn?
