This and that

My faith in humanity has been restored. Yesterday, I left my binoculars in EMP hide at Brandon Marsh. We were on our way to Carlton Hide when I realised they were missing. We turned back and they weren’t there. When we left, there was a couple in the hide and we hoped that they would  hand them in at the reception desk.

When we asked at reception, they said that no one had handed in anything. I kicked myself for being so careless. This is the 2nd time I lost something in the reserve. The first time, I dropped my pedometer into the thick undergrowth below as I walked across the boardwalk at the Teal Pool.

You could see the device from above cos it was blue. Everytime we are in the reserve, we could see it among the thick brambles. Last Thursday, Babe spotted a couple of volunteers doing conservation work around the hide and asked them if they’d seen it cos it wasn’t there anymore. They had not seen it, but kindly offered to look for us, babe said no thanks, as we could already see that someone had taken it. Whoever took it did not bother to hand it in anywhere, and kept it, so I guess someone needs the pedometer more than I do!!! Thief…….

Today, Babe dropped me at the reception and I went in and asked if my binoculars were there. Hey preBrandon Marsh Coventry 18-07-2009 10-13-07sto…someone had handed them in. Thank you sooo much. It’s not expensive but I have had it for years and its mine, to the young couple who did this kindly act, many many thanks, we know who you are and will say a personal thank you when we see you again :-) you have restored our faith in human nature.

We went to the nature reserve early before the predicted bad weather starts. Surprisingly not many people about. We checked a few hides before settling at East Marsh Pool hide. Babe was busy tracking a pair of terns when I spotted a water rail dashing across the hide. We were busy snapping away and suddenly its chick started dashing after its parents. You won’t believe how fast that baby could run.

Then a pair of whitethroatsBrandon Marsh Coventry 18-07-2009 10-18-23 made itself at home besides the hide. They were busy feeding and flirting from one bush to another. It was such a privilege to see them this close. It was our lucky day.

This week the campus was busy with proud parents and their clever off springs. It was the summer graduation. Congratulations. Another thousands to join the millions searching for the perfect job. Welcome to the real world.

How was the weather in your area on St. Swithin’s Day? Here it was mixed bag of sunshine and showers. In folklore, if it rained on this day, the weather will be wet for the next 40 days. But if it is dry, then 40 days of sunny weather should follow. Who needs the weatherman huh? :-)

My nephew was asked to stay at home for 2 weeks to contain the H1N1 virus. Some students in his uni (UITM, M’cca) was diagnosed with the virus and the health officials felt that it was the best way to stop it from spreading.

Here in the UK, grim estimates of thousands of deaths were made as the Government confirmed 29 people have already died after contracting swine flu. Please remember CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT.

The casa smells delicious of sweet peas. Coventry 15-07-2009 15-29-54 I’ve little vases dotted all over the place with these freshly picked aroma of summer. There are 5 pots of these lovely plants in the garden and the more you picked them, the more they bloomed. Heaven…

Also a posey of sweet peas for CC. Happy birthday and hoped you enjoyed your date with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
