It was a very nice surprise when I woke up yesterday. I didn't believe the weathermen when they say it was going to snow. It happened elsewhere before, never in Coventry. So for once, they were right. It was a white start to Easter for us on Sunday with snow and bitterly cold conditions gripping much of the country. A low pressure system from Scandinavia brought wintry showers and blanketed Coventry. Yaay...
I went out ( my neighbours must think I'm loco), armed with my
camera and started snapping. It feels more like Xmas than Easter with a lovely deep coating of snow. This smiling snow-covered ornamental frog sums up how I felt. What a pity, everything disappeared by lunchtime.
I was off work since Friday. It was Good Friday and it commemorates the execution of Jesus by crucifixion. We came across a processions or re-enactments of the Crucifixion on our way to Brandon Marsh. Someone was carrying a huge wooden cross and were followed by a group of people.
We didn't stay long at the reserve cos the weather was turning for the worse rapidly. We checked the grebe and she was asleep on her nest. I'm glad that the eggs haven't hatched yet cos the cold might kill the chicks.
I spent the weekend opening our boxes of books and shelving them in the spare bedroom. And there were still unopened ones in the store. HELPPP...But, it's quite fun cos you just don't know what's inside them. I think we'll try to open one box a month. Fingers crossed.
Today, we went to see the 1605 Living History Society enactment at the Guildhall. It was their first full public display at the lovely St. Mary's Hall. There were workshops on dance, music, apothecary, weapons and calligraphy. It was supposed to demonstrate life in the 1600s but the feel wasn't there. What a letdown.

Anyway, Kevin took my photograph with this lovely costumed lady. She pulled up her skirt to show me her voluminous petticoats and in front of Kevin too. Hey, that's not how a 1600's woman suppose to behave :-)
Last Thursday was the 12th day of Rabi'ul Awwal, the 3rd month of the Islamic calendar. It was Maulidur Rasul, a term to refer to the observance of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
"He is closer to the believers than their ownselves" (33:6)
To all Muslims, lets recite the Selawat together.
And Happy Birthday, Mrs. D. All the best.
