One Night in November

Yesterday, in 1940, Coventry was heavily bombed during WW2. 500 German bombs reduced the city into rubble and left the Cathedral in ruins. The attack, code-named Operation Moonlight Sonata, but was more popularly known as the Coventry Blitz.Coventry cathedral 03-06-2006 11-28-42

I have been to the Cathedral ruins several times and even after several visits, I'm still in awe of this beautiful place. I've watched performances, recitals, weddings and walked up the 180 stone steps/250feet of St. Michael's Tower.

Last night's BBC Children in Need 2008 fund-raising appeal closed the evening by announcing that it raised a record-breaking and whopping £20,991,216. Congratulations and well done. At work, I bought a few raffle tickets to support the appeal.

All this week we seemed to have a party every other day. It's either for a special birthday, a retirement or a leaving do. I'm not complaining. But lately, quite a few people are leaving the library for better pastures. And I heard more are in the pipeline. Hey, do they know something I don't???

Today, I went to a post-Eid/Diwali/Halloween/Remembrance party at HAB in Nuneaton.Nuneaton 15-11-2008 15-22-27 I'd a fantastic time chatting, gossiping and laughing with the girls. Funnily enough, we are all married to Mat Salleh's*. Babe isn't here but if he is, he'll be joining the other bemused husbands watching their Malaysian wives true colours. :-)

And the food was authentic Malaysian dishes. Splendid. Man, these girls know how to cook. Food, glorious food everywhere. HAB in-laws were around and I bet they and the men felt left-out when we, the Malaysian wives, started practising our Malay and huddled together in the kitchen. It's as if we were transported back home.

Thanks HAB and it was nice meeting Puteri, Akmal, Huda, Rose, Anna, May, Shima (and others) and hubbies again. I'd to leave early cos need to be home before the football match ends. Today the Sky Blues take on Plymouth Argyle in the Championship match and they lost 1:0 again. This is baad!!!

Suddenly, I have the urge to make another Malay savoury called cucur udang or prawn fritters. On a cold, dark evening it would surely warm my cockles. Since Babe doesn't like prawns, he'll be having them sans prawns. Bonn Appetit...

Prayers for my relatives who are now in Mecca performing the Hajj. May Allah blessed their pilgrimage and keep them safe.
