Deciding which university to spend the next three or four years is probably the most important decision you can make. An open day was organised yesterday to prospective students to witness what the University has to offer. So far, 4000 people have booked which is very impressive indeed.
There will be usual guided tours of the library, the Arts Centre, lecture and accomodation halls, student unions, sports centre, the chaplaincy and mosque, etc. What you normally expect from one of the top 10 universities in the UK.
What I enjoy most is the impressive grounds. Lakes with abundance of wildlife. Canadian geese, ducks, coots, moorhens waiting in anticipation to be fed. Nesting swans and impresive herons, etc with the sound of woodpeckers hard at work in the background and squirrels playing hide and seek . Now, at Tocil Woods and Gibbert Hill, bluebells as far as the eye can see. A real stress reliever for students and staff alike.
We went to our usual playground. The natives are still hibernating and unusually quiet. At one of the hides, we spotted a pair of red shanks. Easily recognisable with their long scarlet legs and black bill with red base. They are busy feeding on the mudflats.
On the way home, another traffic diversion. It's the final home game of the season. The Sky Blues entertaining West Bromwich Albion and they lost 1: 0. Could hear the roar, the chants and the groans from our house. Better luck next time.
