24th February Ricoh Arena Open Day

Ricoh Arena

We went to see the official opening of the Ricoh Arena, the home of Coventry City Fotball Club, the Sky Blues. It costs £113m and a 32,000 sitting capacity stadium.

It's behind our house. When Bon Jovi and Red Hot Chilli Peppers were playing, we opened our back door and sang along. In July, we will be rocking to Rod Stewart.

There was an eclectic mix of events and attractions.
We took advantage of the Corporate box seats being open, to see the second half of the ladies football match between Ricoh's All-Stars and Coventry City Ladies. It ended 0-0 and the All Stars won on penalties.

At the Atrium, we checked out several public art projects, visual arts stalls, silk painting demonstrations and traditional Indian art (Rangoli).

We watched the Warwick Tap dancers strutting their stuff, listened to the Spires Chamber Orchestra, look at Vintage Jaguar cars and was nearly crushed during the unveiling of the Jaguar C-XF Concept car.
