Today is the first of March, and as the saying goes : “In like a lion, out like a lamb”. Today was the opposite. It turned out to be gentle like a lamb with spring-like sunshine and warm breezes. So we will just have to wait and see what the end of March will be like.
It was such a lovely day that I just couldn’t wait for my lunch break. I fed the ducks and the geese by the lake.
They were so pleased to see me. It was hard to get back to work. On the way back, I was rewarded by this gorgeous Long-tail tit who was having a breather after a session of chasing his girl friend :-)
Today is also the feast day of the patron saint of Wales, St. David. I wish I could join my Welsh friends to celebrate this lovely day in the warm sunshine especially by the sea. And the food…cawl, bara brith, Oen Cymreig Melog, picau ar y maen…

So here’s wishing everyone Happy Saint David’s Day*.
I celebrated this day with a lovely vase of daffodils and a Malay dessert called Lopes. It is made from steamed glutinous rice with palm sugar syrup. Yummy.
Yesterday was a lazy, lazy day after a week of busyness. We did the usual shopping and I bought a lovely floral cardigan from Tesco. We took advantage of the 5p off petrol offer. With the prices going up, every little helps.
I made a sausage casserole for lunch and a huge pot of autumn soup which will last us for 2 days. I spent the day reading, ironing, making cards and watching Man United defeating Aston Villa 2:1 in the FA Cup finals. It will be a wonderful birthday present for JG who is a Man U season ticket holder. She might even be there :-)
On Saturday morning, we waded through the nature reserve towards the East Marsh hide.
The River Avon has slowly flooded the path and I bet some of the other hides are inaccessible. We could hear Cetti Warbles calling to each other loudly but it was just impossible to see them. I spotted this lovely little wren joining in the chorus.
The hide was packed with Bittern watchers but as usual the star failed to make an appearance. We left early cos we’d another appointment to go to. On the way out, we spotted this handsome kestrel watching us, watching him.
Isn’t he a beauty?
We went back to the casa to drop off our cameras and have a change of clothing. Then drove across the city to the Citroen dealer. Nothing wrong with our baby which I’m going to call Azures. We are having a demonstration on how to take the roof off!!!
We wanted to see it metamorphosis into a a Cabriolet or a Spider. It was cool to see the electric full-length retractable roof disappearing into the booth. One key drawback is that the removable roof arches cannot be stored in the car upon removal. We have to leave it at home. We don't have the option of pulling over to the roadside and dropping the roof to form a full convertible. Once we left the rails at home, we are committed to open top motoring for the day, come rain or shine. :-)
We took some photographs just in case this will be the only time we see Azures as a full convertible.
Oooh, here’s hoping for a hot Indian summer.
March is an in between month, When wintry winds are high, But milder days remind us all, Spring’s coming by and by.
We arrived home just as the football fans settled in the Ricoh. Despite being reduced to 10 men, the Sky Blues made it four wins in five games with a 2:1 victory over Scunthorpe in the Coca-Cola Championship. Well-done.
