At long, long last it was now Coventry’s turn for
a proper covering of the white fluffy stuff. I have been reading, hearing and seeing endless stories about other parts of UK that had been snowed under…and was very, very disappointed that none were sent to Coventry. Until yesterday, when I woke up to this…SNOW!!!!Yesss….:-)
I love the snow. A total nuisance but there was nothing like the magic, beauty, fun, and peacefulness that it brings. It was very beautiful to look at, soft and silent. Big, fluffy white flakes, floating from the heavens like soft feathers. The photograph below was outside our window, overlooking our sleeping garden, blanketing in a huge silent swath of white.
Babe and I had a very, very brief debate about whether
or not we should attempt to get to work. And you can guess the answer…a very decisive “NO”. I called office but no one’s in so left a message.
I couldn’t wait to put on my new snow-boots. We trundled through the soft white powder and I love it when I’m the first to walk and leave a perfect boot print.
We wanted to see whether the main roads were moving. Not many cars about and I think the railways too have cancelled their journeys.
We spent the afternoon at Brandon Marsh, now turned into a winter wonderland. All was still, except for the robins begging for food. And I had committed the unforgivable sin. I forgot to bring their mealworms. Very, very sorry guys.
We walked through the very silent, very bitterly cold, very white
landscape. It was soo beautiful. All was still, held in winter’s thrall. The light was amazing, so bright and crisp. Crisp snow and bright blue skies, what more could you wish for, right? Just look at these bare branched snowy trees. They looked very narnia…:-)
We kept on walking through this winter wonderland.
We stopped at East Marsh hide where the elusive bittern had been spotted. But I guess it was too cold to be out and decided to have a lie- in. The lake was frozen over and there was hardly anyone home. And suddenly, this beautiful beast strolled on the opposite bank. Isn’t he gorgeous? That really made my day. It was my first encounter with a fox.
The wonderful walk in this wintry world with my darling husband
did wonders for my mind, body and soul. There was plenty of time to think before facing the world of work, rules and routines. Yesterday, I basked in stillness, peace, calm and awe that Mother Nature has blessed upon us. And I’m hoping it will last a little bit longer…
Latest news on Trish. The police have called off the search. It’s nearly a month now. Everyone’s distraught….the waiting goes on…
Keep warm and be safe especially on the roads and pavements that have turned into ice-sheet.
