Leaf peeping??? Err, as I said before, it’s not leering at people behind trees.
It’s strolling through the woods, oohing and aahing at the leaves as they turned to the spectacular colours of autumn. And of course, photographing them.
Let's face it: autumn has arrived. So why not embrace the fall by enjoying the turning of the leaves? We planned to visit an arboretum to check out the blaze of autumn colour with some friends but it didn’t materialise.![]()
And then my colleagues told me that the nearby park was bursting with autumnal colours. So yesterday, here we were in the midst of crimson, orange, scarlet, yellow and gold. But these were still green.
Red leaves and yellow leaves
Orange leaves and brown,
Leaves are dancing everywhere
Happily dancing down.

I’m glad we went because last night the heavens opened. Heavy
rains and strong gales swept through the UK and off course, leaving the trees bare.
When autumn wind goes running
Leaves in the Fall come tumbling down,
Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown,
Leaves in the garden are swept in a heap,
The trees are ready for sleep.
A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summers wave good bye.

The largest park in Coventry, War
Memorial Park was opened in July 1921 as a tribute to the 2,587 local soldiers killed in the First World War. The major War Memorial, built in 1927, was made of Portland stone. At around 27 m high, it was designed by a local architect T. F. Tinker.
The Park was dominated by stately
Copper Beach trees, which were planted in memory of the various military servicemen who died during the war. Each tree has its own individual dedicated plaque and now the ground is full of stunning copper/red leaves.
Last Wednesday was Babe’s turn to blow the
very many candles :-). Happy birthday darling and many happy returns. Mwah…Even Babe couldn’t contain his inner child, kicking leaves and scattering them everywhere :-).
On Friday, we laid out a splendid party for 2 of my colleagues. JM and DB lost their jobs during the restructuring process. They refused to accept a lower grade post and have decided to leave the jobs they loved. I don’t blame them.
We gave them the mother of all send-off.
The tables were groaning with overflowing food and bubblies popping away. Colleagues and friends all came to wish them good luck. The party went on and on. All the best to 2 wonderful colleagues and friends. We will keep in touch and I have their numbers on speed-dial :-).
Did you have a spooktacular Halloween?
The doorbell went off when I was engrossed with my book. When I realised what it was, I dashed to get my bucket of treats. Sadly, the young tricksters had already cross the street.
Next year, I’m going to be more prepared. I’m going to open the door and show my glow-in-the dark skeleton glove, wear a mask and don a witch hat. That should be fun and really scare them off…
I had planned to try a few recipes with my home-grown pumpkin. But in the end, I just roasted half and the other half, made soup. They were yummy. Nothing beats home-made pumpkin soup with thick slices of rustic bread on a cold, Autumn night. Bon appétit!!!
