Trees

I just couldn’t help falling in love with the trees at the moment. Everywhere, all dressed in its autumn finery…every leaf has turned to yellow, gold or red and each gust of wind showered me in a glorious dance of wonderful colour.
And my inner child came out. I walked on the piles of coloured leaves lining the pavement, crunch!!! crunch!!! and when no one’s looking, gave it a mighty kick. The leaves flying all over the place. I bet the Estates people won’t be pleased if they saw me :-)
Look at this beautiful view outside my office.
It was a welcoming sight to sore eyes. What a spectacular show.
I’m looking forward to a leaf peeping adventure soon. Leaf peeping??? No, it’s not leering at people behind the trees. Its strolling through the woods, oohing and aahing at the leaves as they turned to the yellows, reds and gold of autumn. And of course, photographing them. Couldn’t wait…
On Saturday, the fireworks went off with a bang. Isn’t it a bit wee early for Guy Hawks? Just realised it was Diwali, the Festival of Lights for the Hindus. Have a lovely Diwali everyone.
We went to Brandon
Marsh about noon just to get some fresh air. The car park was full and we decided to forego the hides as they will be packed. The bird-feeder outside the visitor centre was busy with these feathered visitors. What a joy to watch.
Along the path, we
passed these lovely trees shimmering in the afternoon sun. Better enjoy the colours now as the chlorophyll fades from them for another year.
On Sunday morning, Kay and Andrew turned up bright and early at our casa.
We went to Bradgate Park to see if whether the natives are still feeling amorous. Yes…the antlered stags still have sex on their mind. Watching them strutting and bellowing as they control their harem was surreal.
We also made a quick pit stop at Groby Pool. The gorgeous Black Beauty was still there, gliding across the water. She wasn’t pleased
because we came empty-handed. Sorry :-)
Kay and Andrew had lunch at our casa. I’d a beef/lamb korma simmering in the slow-cooker before we left. It was heaven coming in from the cold with the delicious smells greeting us. We’d it with rice and spent the evening watching a South Korean movie, Dragon Wars.
They left after coffee and a slice of Malay delicacy, Seri Muka (steamed glutinous rice topped with a pandan custard). Thanks for coming guys and looking forward to the leaf peeping trip.
I spent the evening re-potting cyclamens and winter pansies into hanging baskets and pots. Hopefully they will provide some colour and cheerfulness for the coming cold months.
Then returned my cousin’s call. Lyanna called me earlier but I was busy with my guests. She had moved a week ago from York to Coventry. She was unable to secure a place at Warwick Uni. but got into Coventry University. We planned to meet up once she had settled into her new course and home. Couldn’t wait to see her…the last time we met was about 5 years ago.
Take care and enjoy the trees…
