Still not 100% the real me. But, I'll still drag myself to work even if it kills me. Got to show them that I'm a professional but I wonder if they'll appreciate my gesture when I'll be spraying my ailments :-).
Today, we are enjoying the beautiful sunshine and warmer temperatures. Everything seems to have woken up. We popped down to our favourite playground to see what the natives have been up to.
My oh my...It was alive. Its the feathered X-Factor going on. Robins, Blue/Great/Long-tailed tits, Chaffinches, Chiffchaff, Cettis Warblers and Reed Buntings all vying for the top spot belting songs on tree tops. They are just everywhere.
We saw lots of the Canada Geese already sitting on their eggs. Here's one of them.
We couldn't find the Great Crested Grebe nests although we spotted a few of them swimming happily. A pair of Greylags and Canada Geese fighting over an island where last year a Coot was nesting.
From one of the hides, we spotted the Common Snipes, mallards, lapwings, Greylags, coots, Canada geese, moorhens, shovelers, cormorants, mute swans, black headed gulls and these cosy group of Tufted Ducks.
Everywhere, wildlife are pairing up and making sweet music. I guess free from the winter straightjacket, they had only one thing on their mind--sex!!!...
I was watching Countryfile this evening. They did a segment on seals versus salmon. According to the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation, about 500 seals were shot yearly cos they ate their salmon. Would you believe that shooting them is legal? I thought seals were protected. The Seal Protection Action Group (SPAG) says about 5000 were killed. If I go to Scotland, what do I want to see...seals or caged salmon farms. Hmm...choices, choices...
I've decided not to buy any salmon from Scotland unless it is seal friendly. I know its expensive, but I feel that the seal has a right to live in the sea too. How can we protest against the brutal slaughter of seal pups in Canada when it's happening in our own backyard!!! That's my rant for this week.
Yesterday, I went to get my unruly mane cut. I've got very thick hair with a mind of its own. Since summer (fingers-crossed) is in the corner, I better tame it quick. I also need to clear up my head as I've been off work since Thursday. It was good to have someone do up your hair, gossiping with the stylist and ending with a nice cup of peppermint tea. I came out feeling tons better.
Browsed in Tesco, Next and M&S. Came out with nothing. Huh??? I must have lost my touch. Bought another card-making book (promise myself it will be the last) and newspaper from Borders. Return and borrow more books from the public library. The staff are busy decorating with bunnies and eggs for Easter. Lots of fresh green, bright yellows and pretty pinks everywhere.
Later, we went out and did some shopping. In Aldi, I bought a pack of 10 marigolds plugs which I will pot around our garden. The flowers really brings colour and sunshine everywhere. In Asda, I fell in love with a purple cheesecloth kaftan blouse. That should keep me in-trend. Frankly, I never follow trends. I buy what strikes my fancy and what I could afford.
Babe got himself another camouflage pants. That too seems to be trendy nowadays. But we have loads of camouflage gear because it helps us when we roam around the nature reserve. The wildlife often aren't aware that we are nearby and we can observe them better.
We reached home just as the footie fans are about to arrive. No wonder the traffic was a bit heavier than usual. The Sky Blues and Reading game ended in a goalless draw. C'mmon guys...
