With the Sky Blues All The Way

It's the big one. Cup fever swept across the city this week ahead of the Sky Blues sellout FA Cup quarter final clash with Premier League giants Chelsea at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow.

The boys have reached the quarter finals of the Cup for the first time in a decade with the onerous task of facing the four times winners. They are also 31 places lower than Chelsea in the league standings. A gigantic task but it can be done.

The match, which kicks off at 12.30pm, will be watched by the club’s first capacity crowd at the 32,000 seater venue and more on tv (me included).

I will be cheering them with the door open. From the casa, I will be able to hear the roar, cheers, chants, grunts etc. I really, really hope they do well. I sacrificed my sushi date to Birmingham to be at home in front of the telly. Good luck boys and do us Coventrians proud.

Also congratulations to Coventry City boss Chris Coleman who has been named the Championship's manager of the month for February.

I'd a ball this whole week at work. On Monday, we'd a birthday bash for JG. We all chipped in and laid out a lovely spread for her. There was soo much food that kept us grazing the whole day.

On Tuesday, I attended the Teaching's Grid first anniversary. More food, fun and laughter.

The predicted snow missed Coventry (again) but we got the wet and windy end of it. Instead of going for my usual walk, I checked out an exhibition at the Mead Gallery.

It was a project titled 'Hijack Reality-Let 100,000 Kunstvereine Bloom!' by two internationally acclaimed artists, Bob and Roberta Smith. Warwick University Coventry 03-03-2009 13-35-30 They were widely known for their sign paintings carrying political slogans painted on reclaimed timber, paper and canvas.

I'd a hard time trying to decipher some of these very colourful pieces. Would you believe that they deposited (dumped) the entire contents of their London studio here, because they need the storage while they find another studio. Hmm, would I like this to be in my living room...

World Book Day on Thursday passes by silently. I only knew about it because Naomi Klein won the WarwickBrandon Marsh Coventry 06-03-2009 10-50-01 Prize for Writing and I happened to catalogue and classify her book (and the others listed) to be added to the library collection. Funnily enough, the award ceremony was held at the Meade Gallery amongst the above project.

Also it was my Emak's 70th birthday. Happy birthday to the wonderful woman who brought me into this world. May Allah bless us always. This lovely photograph of the Chaffinches taken by your son-in-law on a lovely sunny day is from both of us.
