Today is the day that comes once every two years, Red Nose Day! In the UK, we have a day that is dedicated to the raising of money for use in making a difference in the lives of thousands of poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable people the world over. A day simply like no other!
The BBC tonight will be filled with celebrities getting up to all kinds of mischief and mayhem. Comedy presentations put together by celebrities and singing groups, are all in unison to create the wonderful phenomenon that it is!
I enjoyed the hilarious Mama Mia spoof, the fabulous Annie Lennox and Take That and Stacy vs the England team. The documentaries in between really shook me up and made me realise how lucky I am. I'm soo thankful to Allah for blessing us with such a good life, although Babe is still poorly.
For weeks now people have been buying a whole load of Red Nose range - from Noses, Deeley Boppers, Charm, Pin Badge, Car Nose, Whoopee Cushion and the Giggler. Over the years some 50 million red noses have been purchased and the funds given to this charity. I bought a pin badge and have been wearing it the whole week.
At work, we have quizzes, silly nose jokes, treasure hunt and cake sales through out the week. But the highlight was this afternoon's paper aeroplane race.We were all taking our turns along the corridor to see who's aeroplane flew the furthest. You could not believe the noise we made. Who says librarians don't have fun?
It was a really fun day, all for charity. But don't just take my word for it . . . Check this out, and please do something funny for money today! I did
Today was also the last day of the academic term. How do I know it? I've got students, lecturers and subject specialists breathing down my neck. They wanted a particular book to be catalogued and classed like yesterday so that they could loan it for their break. Sheesh...Thank goodness, they wanted it earlier in the day.
Often, I've got requests around 4pm on a Fri. when I leave at 4.30pm and the Processing team have already left. The things we'd to do for these people. Just hoped they appreciated the length we went through to get things done for them.
Yesterday I went for my usual walk to the lakes by Scarman House. The swans had to build a nest and the area also cordoned off. I will try to walk here at least once a week and keep an eye when she starts laying her eggs. Look at these beautiful crocus along the path.
Spring Flowers ~ Crocus~ by Mary Havran
Crocus flowers daring tiny warriors
Fighting their way up through
The winter ice
Crocus darling early Spring harbingers
Promising days will soon
Be turning nice
Tiny Crocus flowers grow in close groups
Strength in numbers seeking
Where winter snows still may lie
Encircled encampment of floral troupes
“We march onward to spring”
They raise this brave battle cry
Bold strength contained in Crocus so small
Should winter challenge again
They simply refuse to die
Delicate blossoms possess such wherewithal
I cannot help but wonder then
Should not likewise you and I?
On Tuesday, I've done something I've never done before. I'd missed CSI. How could that be? Luckily I've Five US and will able to watch it again Phew...
Blamed it on Liverpool vs Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.Torres spearhead a Liverpool display that once again re-inforced their credentials in Europe's elite competition in the 16th min. Gerard scored 2 goals and finally substitute Dossena completed a dream night by scoring his first goal for the club with two minutes remaining. No wonder I forgot...
And tomorrow will be the clash of the titans. Liverpool will meet Man United which had a victory over Inter Milan in the last 16 of It will be a great game. Top-of-the-table Manchester United will be host to Liverpool in what has been billed as a Barclays Premier League title decider. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be shown live.
The Sky Blues are starting to go downhill after their big match against Chelsea. Their disappointing performance at play-off-chasing Bristol City effectively ended their own ambitions of making the top six. Best of luck for tomorrow where they'll meet Preston North End at Deepdale.
Coventry City are 15th in the Championship table with 47 points from 36 matches. Meanwhile, Preston North End are 9th in the Championship table with 57 points from 38 games.
