" I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today! "
Part of a speech delivered by Martin Luther King (1929-1968) on 28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.
April 4 marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of the American civil rights activist and is one of my favourite speeches.
And I guess they are still dreaming...
But it was a dream come true when I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland (again). Overnight snow had descended and wintry showers are still forecasted throughout next week. Superb.
As usual, I went walkabout and
took photos of the surrounding area. It was breath-taking beautiful because no one was up yet to trample the ground. Except for a dog owner, a jogger and one loco woman (me :-).
Went home, happy and hungry. Made my usual weekend breakfast of mushroom omelette, read the papers and had my ear on the tv.
Breaking news was 35 arrests have been made after clashes between pro-Tibet protesters and police as the Olympic torch made its way through London.
A protective ring of Chinese flame attendants and fluorescent-jacketed police officers surrounded the torchbearers at all times, with additional men in black joining at potential flashpoints along the route. Gosh, what a waste of resources.
Why oh why was China picked? China is destined to be the #1 economy in the world, and everyone wants to stay on their right side. That's why? Sheesh...
Later we went to our favourite playground. The snow had already thawed and it was sunny but chilly. The crested grebes were keeping each other warm (aah...) and we also spotted a nesting Canadian goose. There's gonna be lots of chicks soon.
But, today's highlight ta...da...
This cheeky guy flew onto my opened
palm and started feeding. I'd brought some freeze-dried worms. It was amazing. We were always hounded by these adorable guys that Kevin christened this route Robin Hood county.
Yesterday, CC and I had lunch with KS at Wing Wah. The lunch buffet wasn't as extensive as dinner. I'd crab and sweetcorn soup, udon with seafood, prawn balls, squid rings, abundant veg. stirfries. We were so stuffed.
We'd a great time exchanging news, jokes and other girly stuff. KS was onto her 3rd job. Seems that professional cataloguers are always in demand in London. Man...
Wishing my 2 boisterous nephews, Emir and Eris a very Happy Birthday. According to my father, their sister, Emil, couldn't come home for their party so they had it at her boarding school. What!!!
