Rain, rain go away...

It has been a wet, wet week. I know Glastonbury is over but a pair of pink polka-dot wellies should be next on my wish list. It's pouring in the UK and there's a heat wave in mainland Europe. Mother Nature isn't happy at all.

During my lunch break, weather permitting, I always try to take a walk around the university grounds, especially by the lakes. And I came across these lovely babies huddled together to keep warm. I think, these are the second batch that has hatched.

All huddled up for warmth and protection

We'd another meeting regarding the Library Remodelling Project. Only one representative from the Management turned up. Boy, did we gave her a hard time. She asked our views and jotted down what we said. But since it's all fait accompli, what's the point. We attended these meetings just to know what had been decided.

On Wed, took the bus home cos Kevin was too ill to drive. CC gave me a lift into town. Since I'd half an hour wait for the bus, I took the opportunity to click away. The Pool Meadow bus station is surrounded by some fantastic buildings, old and new.

One which I was so eager to photograph is the Swanswell Gate. This gate, also known as Priory Gate, was built in 1461. Together with Cook Street Gate, they were only two out of 12 gates left standing.

Between these two gates exists the best preserved surviving section of Coventry's old city wall. Either side, lies Lady Herbert's Garden which was laid out by Sir Alfred Herbert in the early 1930's in memory of his late wife, Florence.
There was also these blue structure meandering around the Gardens. You could walk on them, but they were closed for repairs. The Coventry Transport Museum overlooked the Millennium Place and under the arch was the statute of Sir Frank Whittle (1907-1996), the designer of the jet engine.
On the bus, I saw the Cook Street Gate and the Old Grammar School. I am definitely going to drag Kevin this weekend to do more exploring and photographing.
Blair as Middle East envoy!!! Is somebody taking the p...? Wonder what he'll be telling to the Iraqis and Palestinians with Bush pulling the strings. Couldn't wait.
Birthday wishes for my nephew, Erif.
Jax, a German bird told me that you're back at work. Be extra careful.
Barbara, never give up and all the best for the future.
