April Flu

"April is the cruellest month" according to T. S Eliot and I somehow agreed with him. I called office this morning to say that I'm not coming in again. It's the 2nd time this week but I'm not alone. My colleagues too are dropping like flies. I wonder why???

I'm praying hard that whatever I'm having will just leave me alone. I kept Babe (and the neighbours) awake at night due to my sudden bouts of coughing. I hate sleeping with the pillows stacked up high. My heads pounding, my nose and ears blocked/stuffed and my throat's sore. Sheesh...I can moan for England.

Talking of England, well done to the footballers. Terry kept England firmly on course for next summer's World Cup in South Africa as his priceless late winner sank Ukraine and made it five wins out of five in their qualifying group. It was a great diversion from the doom and gloom.

At work on Tuesday, my colleagues and I said farewell to E who's leaving us for LDC which is just next door. We'd a small party for her and unfortunately I couldn't make it for drinks at the Varsity. I was still nursing my cold.

I also found a new oasis at the Humanities block. Warwick university coventry 29-03-2009 12-57-13 There's a Japanese garden in the midst of this concrete block. I've spotted the odd heron and ducks flying into the garden and I decided to check this place. It was beautiful The cherry tree was flowering and the willow tree sweeping across the pond.

The staff have hang a few bird-feeders all over the place. I've spotted chaffinches, blue tits, goldfinches, and blackbirds. And when I was there, I saw 3 duckling swimming happily in the pond. Warwick University Coventry 01-04-2009 12-30-01 Huh...

I'll be making several trips before the students return. I wanted to get some good shots of the goldfinches. Watch this space...

Anyway, I'm off to watch The Mentalist on Channel 5. Will have an early night and hopefully fit enough to go to work tomorrow.

I'm also looking forward to April showers, chocolate eggs and long Easter weekends, newborn animals, sunshine, gardening and flowers, especially bluebells.
