Dathlu Cymry~Celebrating Wales

It's St. David's Day today. Coventry 01-03-2009 10-09-39 I brightened the casa with a bunch of daffodils from Aldi. The ones in the garden are still growing and I'm looking forward to them blooming beautifully.

I planned to make  Pice ar y maen and Cennin cawl as a celebratory meal but somehow ended up with roast beef and all the trimmings.

Yesterday afternoon I tested the new Bifinett Waffle Maker. I tried the easiest recipe which is honey waffles. Must remember that there is a difference between soft and hard butter. I used the later which resulted in a few speckles floating in the batter.

There was also something not right with the design. Coventry 01-03-2009 10-08-32 I put 2 tablespoonful of batter into the  baking plate and closed the lid.  The lid rose when the waffles were cooked. The problem was that the end cooks faster than the front. This resulted in it being much darker than the front and the front not properly cooked.

Also not to use too much butter. It overflows and greases up everything. Cleaning was also a pain. Other than that, I couldn't wait to try the rest of the recipes.

Today, we made a quick stop at our usual playground. Brandon Marsh Coventry 01-03-2009 14-36-13 Babe was not feeling good yesterday and he wanted to get some fresh air. Outside the visitor centre, I couldn't help admiring this pigeon determination to peck the nuts from the feeder. The rest of the flock were feeding whatever that fell from on to the ground.

Yesterday, as I was walking to Tesco behind our casa, I noticed this very long queue outside the Ricoh. Coventry 28-02-2009 12-30-00FA CUP fever was beginning to grip the fans as the countdown begins to the biggest game ever seen at the Ricoh Arena. The FA Cup quarter-final next week will be against the mighty Chelsea. Since Tuesday night’s victory over Blackburn Rovers, everyone (including moi) wants a ticket. And yesterday also saw Fox's superb winner delivered a crippling blow to Norwich's hopes of escaping the drop and underlined Sky Blues resurgence in the Coca-Cola Championship.

I'd to cancel my noodle bar date with the ladies (sorry gals) to watch it live on tv. I think it will be crazy for me to watch it at the Ricoh when it's just behind our casa. I'll open the door and I'll be able hear the groaning, chanting, clapping and singing. C'mmon Coventry.

Tuesday was Pancake Day. I'd pancakes for breakfast, alas shop-bought. How do you like your pancakes? I love mine with lashings of maple syrup. Babe like his plain.

On Wednesday, along with 5.3m viewers, we were glued to the box to watch the finals of University Challenge between Corpus Christi College, Oxford and Manchester University. Actually, I wanted to know what's the furore surrounding one of the contestants, Gail Trimble. Oh yes, she was good and I'm proud to be a women.

As a result, this song by Pelle Calbergs 'Clever Girls Like Clever Boys Much More than Clever Boys like Clever Girls' starting to get lots of air play. Just check out the excellent lyrics...

"You see the clever girls look for clever boys
And then the clever boys seem to have a different choice
They want a good-looking chick
That likes to blow them away
Someone who laughs at all the
Funny little things they say

I have a friend who's in this Mensa club
He has no trouble to admit
He wants a woman with ambitions
That go as far as raising kids."

Oh dear...

Do checkout  this lovely pair of Cape Shelducks Babe spotted at Brandon Marsh when I was busy working. I'm soo jealous. They weren't there today...

Have a lovely Dydd Hapus Dewi SantCape Shelduck?
