Frrreezing February

On the 5th day of the snow fall, my true love gave to me...

More snow :-)

They say more is on the way tonight...

More merriment tomorrow :-) :-) :-)

Coventry 05-02-2009 10-22-14 I think I must have watched and listened to countless weather forecasts, logged on the weather website and discussed with colleagues since Monday, keeping an eye on the movement of the weather across the UK.

I was waiting for that special visit...a real one that comes once a year...and it did arrived with a bang.  On Monday, the heavens opened and beautiful white stuff started pouring down. All I could think was my walk during my lunch break, trampling on the snow and walking beneath the falling white fluffy stuff.

In Tocil Woods, Warwick University Coventry 06-02-2009 13-16-21 the bare trees stood out against the whiteness. Imagine in spring, this whole area will be teeming with bluebells.

On Tuesday, it started getting heavier. And the whole country stood still. Traffic ground to a halt. Airports shutdown. Schools were cancelled and parents stayed at home. I was thinking of the same thing but I'd to attend a 3 day workshop on Process Improvement Review. I was praying hard that the snow will keep on falling.

As usual the moaners and whiners got their claws out. People get angry when they are inconvenienced by the snow. There was a guy on telly bemoaning that the road hadn't been gritted and the usual "it's like a 3rd world country!!!" Err, no. It's just one bit of road that wasn't gritted. It won't last and soon things will go back to normal.

It is winter so why are people surprised by the snow? Make full use of it. People spend thousands to ski in the crowded Alps. Take time off with the kids and enjoy the impromptu break. It was nice to see both parents and children bonding in the snow.

Every park we passed were filled with a plethora of people (and pets) enjoying this rarity, throwing snowballs, building snowmen and dogs playing. I can well imagined that all over the country, snowmen of various shapes and sizes popping up like foreign visitors from an alien planet.

Those lucky ones will be sledging and snowboarding. I watched on tv as a group of people built a huge snowball and then proceed to roll it down a hill in unison. I was soo jealous watching them chasing after the snowball, all laughing and cheering it on. It was fun and made me want to join in. In this climate of gloom and doom, its good to see people rediscovering an enthusiasm for life.

On Thursday, it was my turn. I did go toCoventry 05-02-2009 10-39-35 work but we'd to turn back cos the roads around our casa was a like a death trap. Benzy was sliding all over the place. Called office and informed them that I'll be coming in the afternoon.

Our garden was wrapped in a cotton wool. Yes, it was still snowing and it hugged everything. It was quiet and still and magical. And I made my first snowman.  It was only a metre tall but I was so proud I got my snow fix.

Have a lovely snow white week.
