Sunny Intervals

This summer is on tract to be one of the dullest. And despite today's ray of sunshine, with temperatures set to hit 27C, summer will go out with a splash. Thunderstorms and lightning are forecast for tomorrow. Yikes.

Since Kevin's unwell, we'll be spending the weekend at home. I'm charging the battery for the strimmer and will spend the evening cutting the grass. Also cleared up some plants which have turned mouldy due to the wet weather conditions.

I've also started packing and making lists for my trip next week to Glasgow. CC and I will be flying up North to attend the Cataloguing and Indexing Conference at the University of Strathclyde for 3 days. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow professionals and exchanging ideas. It will be my first trip to Glasgow and I'm soo looking forward. CC and KS (who are also attending) couldn't wait to show me the delights of Glasgow.

Tomorrow Malaysia will celebrate its 51st Independence Day from the British rule. There's going to be a huge party back home and how I wish I was there. Have a lovely Merdeka.

And on Monday will be the start of Ramadan. I do hope that the scene of last year chaos will not be repeated. If Muslims can't unite on the day they start fasting (or Eid) what hope do we have in other matters? It's going to be a challenge to fast in the height of summer. We will be abstaining from food and water for at least 14 hours. A real test of one's faithwarwick University Coventry 29-08-2008 12-49-58

Yesterday, we'd a leaving do for GF.  She's leaving us for sunny Brixham, the English Riveria. Don't blame her especially with the sea, sun and ??? :-). All the best GF. I contributed spring rolls and Thai prawn crackers to the groaning spread.

When I was at work, wrecking my brains, Kevin popped Brandon Marsh Coventry 28-08-2008 13-20-55down to the Marsh. And guess what he saw, a pair of snipe. How lucky is that.  I'm soo jealous.

Also buzzing in Coventry is this controversial canopy over the Lady Godiva statue which is finally going to be demolished. Shocker horrors. Lady Godiva is going naked. :-)  A recent survey said the canopy was the feature most Coventrians wanted to see go. I wonder why?

It's a good meeting place like Coventry 21-07-2007 10-44-12a big umbrella where people shield from the rain and the sun. Lots of activities also took place underneath it. I wonder where the Goths will hang out now?

On Mon, another headache for staff coming to work. There're still on-going road works up Gibbert Hill. University Road will be closed for works undertaken to repair the footbridge. The timing sucks but thankfully, I'll be away from Wednesday onwards.

Not a good week for the Sky Blues. Last Tuesday, they went down fighting to the Magpies 3:2 when Michael Owen ruined hopes of a cup upset. And today, they lost 1:0 to Doncaster. Wake up boys...

My uncle, RAAR, became a proud grandfather for the first time. Congratulations. Couldn't wait to see the latest edition (I'm a librarian) in the tribe.
