Is Phelps really the greatest?

Do I care? Actually NO. But kudos to him for the gold haul. As I mentioned before, I will only watch if the athletes are representing Great Britain and Malaysia.

So well done to Team GB for the 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. And a sad exit for the 2004 badminton runners-up Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson. They saw their Olympic dream ended after losing 21-19 21-12 to Lee Hyojung and Lee Yongdae.

I've been having lunch aldesko all this week cos I was glued to the screen watching the badminton. I guess by now my colleagues are used to hear me groaning, moaning, clapping or thumping the table. All the best to the only Malaysian player left, Lee Chong Wei in the semi-finals. Ranked second in the world, he defeated the Athens bronze medallist Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia  21-9, 21-11.

The Sky Blues too had a great start. After sending the Canaries packing, Chris Coleman's side beat Aldershot 3-1 to book their place in the second round and a glamour tie against the Magpies. I'm looking forward to the cup clash which will be played on Tuesday, August 26. Fingers crossed, Michael Owen and Jonas Gutierrez will be fielded...hmm :)

5,000 Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) students marched to the Selangor State Secretariat to hand over a memorandum of protest over the State Minister's suggestion that UiTM reserve 10 per cent of places to non-Bumiputeras and foreigners.

He said the move would give UiTM students early exposure to be more friendly towards people of other races and that they were not as competitive as students in multiracial universities. UiTM was set up in 1967 as Institut Teknologi Mara, when then prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein (1922-1976) wanted to raise the socio-economic status of the indigenous Malays.

I'm glad the students did that. I'm a product of UiTM and proud of it. Unfriendly and not competitive???Where did that come from? More than 3/4's of the Malaysians I met in the UK who are either doing their doctorate or working had studied there. How unfriendly/uncompetitive can you get? Know something? I'm turning into a mini-krakotoa.....

Then this. I've eaten the eggs. They are delicious. It was readily available everywhere. From what I know, they were never killed for their shell.

Mark Aluyia from the illegal trade monitoring group Traffic mentioned the lack of conservation efforts. So what is this? Why isn't there a link on the BBC website? Why oh why!!!

While I'm fuming, checkout these lovely picsBrandon Marsh Coventry 11-08-2008 15-26-51 taken by my darling Kevin. If the weather's ok and he's feeling much better, Kevin will pop into Brandon Marsh to top up his tan :-). That's not fair. Here, I'm cooped up in the office.

The natives tend to come out and play during the Brandon Marsh Coventry 14-08-2008 13-15-32weekdays when no one's about. How clever is that? And the worst bit? Kevin will either e-mail me these gorgeous pics or wind me up on the phone . Waah...

Just found out that DP has separated.:-(. It saddened me when a relationship breaks down. She's got a new job in London, to be close to her parents who lives in France while K had moved back to Iran. Au revoir et bonne chance, DP.

Also wishing all Muslims, Happy Nifsu Syaaban.
