Sunny Sunday

In the Summertime, the song by Mungo Jerry  was playing in my mind on the way to checkout our latest playground, Swift Valley Nature Reserve, on the outskirts of Rugby. It was a lovely sunny drive.

Here's Kevin at the entrance to the  swift valley rugby 13-07-2008 14-32-37reserve posing with the Green Man Sculpture. The reserve includes lowland neutral grassland with pronounced ridge and furrow, hedgerows, meadows,  woodland and wetland adjacent to River Swift and a disused branch of the Oxford Canal. From a distance, we spotted a herd of Highland cattle grazing in the field. Man, I don't need to go to Scotland to see these beautiful beasts. We didn't fancy walking pass them. Did you see those horns?

Yesterday, we popped down to our favourite brandon marsh coventry 12-07-2008 14-54-25playground. Kevin wanted to play with his latest toy a Nikon D200 and I got to play with his old toy a Nikon D50. We were dashing from one hide to another to shield from the rain.At Carlton Hide, we met Fat Jasper and 2 bubbly sisters, L and S. There were plenty of things to see. 2 Common sandpipers were busy foraging on the mudbank, a hobby chasing grasshoppers on the nearby golf course, a Green and a Great Spotted Woodpecker busy drilling holes on a tree trunk and I snapped a heron in flight. Fantastic.

I was off since Friday. Need a break from work. coventry 11-07-2008 08-58-16When does an a urgent book becomes urgent when there's 5 shelves of books marked urgent??? Sorry for the tongue twister. We were up to our eyes with urgent books and they kept on coming...At least, the casa smells divine. Bunches of sweet peas filled our casa with the delicious scent of summer. I also baked a pineapple upside-down cake, another mouth-watering aroma wafting through.

We'd another headache when Benzy was vandalised again, for the 4th time I think. Heesh...what's up with these people?  Kevin saw the culprit on the CCTV about midnight but by the time he came down the coward had split. Another mangled wiper and he was also trying to deflate the tyres. If this coward has any issues with us, why don't he come over?

We called the police. It's a pity that the CCTV wasn't able to get a clear picture of this coward. Kevin called the City Council Anti-Social Behaviour Unit to lodge a complaint. They are coming over tomorrow for further details. We really wanted to catch this maniac.
