Local elections were held on Thursday in 159 Local Authorities in England and Wales. I opted for a postal vote because last year I was harassed by the canvassers at the polling station. It was quite intimidating. I voted for the Green Party. They might not win but I do believe in their values and ideas.
1st of May was also International Worker's Day. Viva Solidaridad. But we must also remember those who are working under poor conditions and are being exploited, oppressed and suppressed such as child labour, sweatshop workers and alien workers.
On Tuesday, I was switching between 3 channels. In the end, concentrate on the UEFA Champions League where Man U defeated Barcelona 1:0. They will meet Chelsea who defeated Liverpool in Moscow for the finals. I feel sorry for the English supporters who has to fork up some serious £££ to see their team.
On BBC2 was the World Championship snooker in Sheffield. There were 4 Chinese players and they were impressive. A pity no one made it to the finals. My favourite, Doherty, didn't even made it to the top 16. Better luck next time.
During lunch, I went for a walk to Tocil Woods. The reserve was ablaze with bluebells. I just love this time of year. A truly British scene of miles and miles of blue under the canopy of green leaves. Very soothing and peaceful.
At work, ClassWeb was out of action again. This was the 3rd time since Jan. We thought of e-mailing SH who's in US for a meeting to knock on LC's door.
Took Fri off for a nice long Bank Hols. weekend. We went to Coombe Abbey to checkout the heronry. The heron chicks are still in their nest, testing their wobbly wings and looking ghostlike from the hide. We can't see any cormorant chicks, as they are sitting higher in the trees and lower in their nests.
We saw lots of Greylag chicks (top photo) of different stages of development. I love the way the parents flanked their chicks. Lots of baby coots too. The swans are still sitting on their eggs. I haven't seen any ducklings here. They have already hatched in the Uni. grounds.
