Sound of (late) dawn chorus

Yesterday we made our usual trip to Brandon Marsh to check on the grebes.  The heavens opened and we were pelted with hailstones. It was suppose to be (April) showers but we got the frozen end? So we decided to have coffee and warm pasties at the restaurant. We'd a lovely view of the various birds feeding on the bird-feeder outside the window.

Along the path, we were serenaded by lovelyBrandon Marsh Coventry 12-04-2008 15-46-10 birdsongs. Are they vying to be Bird Idol?:-) I know that they are either busy defending their breeding territory or trying to attract a mate. And I managed to catch this warbler. He was so busy singing his heart out that he just ignored me.

We met Fat Jasper and he told us that the grebe chicks had hatched. Brandon Marsh Coventry 12-04-2008 14-53-22What? We quickly zoomed on the nest and hey presto, the proud parents were there and the chicks were sitting on their daddy's (I guess) back. Aaah... What a pity I wasn't able to get a good photograph. Next time perhaps?

During the weekends, I try my very best to have a 30min jog/walk round the block. Need to loose this blubber very much. Yesterday, I jogged to Tesco and then browsed. Killed 2 birds huh...

Took Wed off cos I'd a hard night and was feeling woozy. Took some painkillers and went to bed. After a good rest, kept Kevin company when he sent Benzy for its 10k miles service. I read a book to pass the time. Thank goodness it was quick.

We decided to spend the afternoon in town. Parked at the usual coventry 09-04-2008 11-52-03place and browsed at the Lower Precinct. I bought some goodies at Lush and we'd a drink at a newly opened cafe called O'Briens. I'd a hard time ordering cos the list was mind boggling. All we wanted was plain filter cofee. I did enjoy people watching though...

On Fri, I planned to accompany B to see the Beach Boys at the NIA. Unfortunately, due to the late performance which means taking the midnight train home, it is not practical. Ladies, being on a train alone from Birmingham to Coventry at night is just not a good idea. Thanks for the invite and I do hoped you'd a great time.

Also birthday wishes for my sister-in-law, Trish and also Hezlin.
