Yesterday, Kevin went round the casa checking the clocks. Yes, it was that time again. In the spring, the UK add an hour, and go onto what is called British Summer Time, while in the autumn, we do the reverse, and adhere to Greenwich Mean Time. Why bother?
Blame it on a London builder, William Willett (1857-1915). He reckoned that you could improve the population's health and happiness by putting forward the clocks by twenty minutes every Sunday in April and do the opposite in September. Bet, he didn't anticipate the number of gadgets that have built-in clocks, huh!!!
Summer? We are still hanging onto our winter attire. Anyway, there's an old British saying 'Cast ne'er a clout till May is out.' This means that one should not start to don one's summer wardrobe until 1 June. June... that's 2 months away. I hope it's not an April Fool joke which is tomorrow by the way.
But we took advantage of the lovely spring sunshine at our favourite playground. Met Fat Jasper who has his lens zoomed on the great crested grebe. She's doing fine. The male was paddling happily nearby.
All the inhabitants are busy pairing up and lovey-dovey.
The nature reserve was alive and bustling. There were Chaffinchs, Blue Tits, Robins, Dunnocks, Mute Swans, Cormorants, Canada Geese, Greylags, Mallards, Teals, Coots, Moorhens, Lapwings, Shovelers, Great-Crested Grebes, Little Grebes, Tufted Ducks, Grey Herons, Magpies, Crows, Reed Buntings, Pheasants, Terns...We'd a lovely afternoon checking out all the hides.
I just love this photo of Kevin taking a photo of the cheeky Robin.
Yesterday was also a good day for the Sky Blues. They secured 3-points in their match at home to Plymouth Argyle. Well done.
Also a very Happy birthday to my nephew, Emir who is 11 today.
