Merry, Merry Xmas

Time flies. 3 days gone since I last heard Johnny Mathis 'When a child is born', Boney M's 'Mary's boy child' and Cliff Richard's 'Mistletoe and wine' on air. They also happened to be my fav. yule songs. And I'm starting work next week. Back to routine again and I'm trying to stretch the hols as long as I can.

We'd a very quiet Xmas. The phone woke us up with a text from my MIL wishing us Merry Xmas. Thanks Mum and the same from us. Thick fog had enveloped the UK again and we heard on the news that there was chaos and disruptions on the roads and airports. I'm glad we cancelled our plans to drive down to Pembroke and Kevin isn't feeling up to it too.

Spend the day reading, grazing and watching various films on tv. I watched the obligatory Queen Xmas Speech and fell asleep. This year Kevin cooked the Xmas dinner and I cleaned after him:-). We'd our dinner very late at 8pm and finished with a lovely Italian almond torte for dessert.

On Boxing Day, we checked out the sales at the Gallagher Retail Park in the afternoon. It's quite disheartening to find on the day after Xmas, people queueing as early as 3am for the sales. Shouldn't they be visiting families and friends??? I guess to each his own huh... Kevin got a bright orange Belkin laptop from Maplins. In Matalan, the queue to the tills was waay too long. Argos was bursting to the beams and customers were queueing to return faulty pressies. :-). We bought bits and pieces at my fav. Shop, TK Maxx.

On Thursday, we invited D and her children for a Xmas party. We just wanted them to enjoy themselves and relax with good food, fun and hopefully company. We are so looking forward to see them again. At first, the kids were soo shy. Little D was always whispering. After pulling the crackers, donning on paper hats and exchanging silly jokes, they began to relax. The twins chose to watch Shrek 3 while having dinner.

Kevin became Father Xmas and started handing out pressies for the kids and also for D. They started building up bits and pieces for Pirates of the Caribbean game and even D had to help. Sorry D. You're supposed to relax. After putting up the game, they had to dismantle it to take it home. We do hope they enjoyed the game and we promised to hunt for the missing characters for the game. I was busy snapping away, as usual.

Little D was asleep when we finished watching the movie. It's a hard life for a 5 year old. We enjoyed having them and we hoped they enjoyed themselves too. Do come again, anytime. Our casa was very quiet after they left.

We were shocked to know that Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan's former president was assassinated earlier in the day. I really admire her. It's something to be elected as a president but a woman to be elected in a male dominated Muslim country is something else. I do hope the country won't be thrown into chaos.

Today was another gloomy day. We could hear the wind howling outside and decided a long lie-in. Later, we checked out the Next sales at the Arena. We could see people coming out with huge bags. 2 pairs of very sexy lingerie and black drop earrings caught my attention . Oolala... At Borders, the discount wasn't that good and we knew from last year that as the days pass by, the discounts can get very, very low. So decided to wait.

We went back to Gallagher Retail Park to hunt for the Pirates missing characters. We found a pair and hopefully they will be the right ones. Will be sending them to the children asap. We also checked out Staples but nothing special. The traffic was so chocker blocked that we decided to call it a day.

Wishing everyone a very Merry, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
