I was nursing pre-flu symptoms when suddenly meoow-meoow hissh screech grr grr was heard. Checked what's going on. Saw these 2 tom-cats trying to be the leader of the pack. It was fascinating to watch the slow motion each of them took to show who's boss and suddenly they were on each others throat. Luckily, it didn't last long and no cat's hurt.
The stand-off between England and South Africa in the Rugby World Cup finals was pale in comparison. Not a rugby fan, I'm just fascinated with the antics of the supporters. A relief cos the English team was trashed 36:0 in their first meeting. I think our boys were a bit wee pretty as rugby players compared to their stockier, bulkier opponents.
We'd a departmental meeting regarding the library catalogue. About half of the collection are still stored in card format and to save/cut cost, an external supplier was contracted to have it done electronically. SH had a fit when the records were botched up. I never agreed on outsourcing library work. Professional cataloguers/classifiers are very expensive but they do know what they are doing. It seems that we might need to spend time tweaking these so-called records to make it usable. There's nothing I hate more than correcting somebody's shoddy work.
I also announced to my colleagues that, unfortunately, they are stuck with me for good. I'd received confirmation that I'm now an honorary member of the elite DS team. Syukur alhamdulillah. I'm going to miss doing cataloguing/classifying projects around the UK. I'd worked on 3 different projects in Wales, 1 in Scotland and here in Coventry. My announcement was greeted with applauses and congratulations and the usual excuse to celebrate at Wing Wah is in the pipeline.
Tried my hand making a traditional Malay dessert appropriately named Seri Muka, literary translated means Bright Face. It is steamed glutinous rice with a santan-based topping. It tasted/looked like the real Mccoy. Not bad for a first-timer. I'm now making a habit to test a new recipe every weekend My poor hubby's gonna be my guinea pig. He better says he likes it :-)
I'm glad that CK cancelled her weekend with us cos Sandy was ill. If she was here, she'll be bored cos I, too, fell ill. Usually, after a flu-jab you will get ill but mine was 2 weeks too late. We'd to rush to the pharmacy to stock up on paracetamol, vapour rub and lozenges. Spent the weekend, recuperating, reading and watching snooker, rugby and the grand prix. What a pity our sportsmen sucks. I'm definitely not going to work tomorrow and hoping to flush these toxins asap. Anyway we hope to see you soon CK, and hope that Sandy is better soon.
Wishing my cousin, Dek Mat, congratulations on his wedding for the second time. Praying that this one lasts.
