Yesterday, the heavens opened and Coventry was drowned. Heard on the radio that the roads into the University was closed. Hmmm... should I go or should I stay??? It's going to be gridlocked, still pouring and it's Friday. I'm having an early weekend.
But, at least these guys are having fun. My poor lilies...
Last week attended 2 workshops on Speed Reading and Staff Welfare. What strike me in the first one was the bragging about how many books they read on a plane journey. Why?
On my last trip to Malaysia (15 hours), I purchased Dan Brown's, read a few chapters, watched 3 movies, slept, In Dubai, window shopped and walked around in the lovely, huge airport, and did the same on the next plane.
Finished the book in Malaysia, bought a Malay novel, and did the same. No rush, no stress and looking forward to be home with Kevin.
The second was just another talking shop. 3 hours of trashing on what affects staff. Will Management listen and take note??? The senior staff just set back with crossed arms and a cynical smile. Been there done that.
Benzy had its MOT done. It is an annual test of car safety and road worthiness aspects applicable to most vehicles over a certain age in the UK if they are used on public roads. Luckily, it only costs us the test fee.
We also checked out Ryton Pools Country Park. Not as awesome as our previous playgrounds. 2 pairs of grebes with chicks and a nesting coot caught our eyes. The lake was crystal clear that we could see the fishes swimming in it.
A big big-up for our alma mater being voted UK's favourite university town. Aberystwyth beat Brighton, Manchester, Exeter and Glasgow in a survey by a student accommodation website.
The study, carried out by Accommodation for Students, an internet search engine, was based on 34,000 reviews by students from 81 university towns.
Aberystwyth came on top with 64%. Equal second with 62% were Brighton, Manchester, Exeter, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee.
In the latest national student survey, Aberystwyth was 5th in the UK, and top in Wales. It also came 7th in the UK and top in Wales in the Times Higher Education Supplement satisfaction league table. Again, well done.
CC has been pestering me to go to the cinema for ages. I hate the cinema. Kevin has a fantastic collection of DVD (more than 1,000 and counting) and we have a lovely entertainment system, so I prefer to watch at my leisure. Finally, I succumbed and agreed to see 'The Fountain' starring Rachel Weis.
After a lovely Italian dinner, we got into the car. The rear mirror suddenly fell. CC used superglue. But it wouldn't stick. It's getting dark and it's pouring. She promised to drive me home after the movies. We had to cancel our rendezvous.

Called Kevin. He's not pleased too cos Benzy's rear light was broken, by our vandal neighbours who did not have the courtesy to come and apologise. Kevin is furious with them, but unfortunately we don't know which one it was.
CC, I know there's a reason why I don't go to cinemas? Something's bound to go wrong. Thanks for dinner.
